Why I started IT Fandango
I started IT Fandango because the same problems kept appearing on every project.
After twelve years working inside D365 Finance & Operations implementations — first as a functional consultant at Microsoft partners, then as a contractor across dozens of engagements — I noticed a pattern that never changed.
Clients would arrive at each project underprepared. Not through lack of effort or intelligence, but because nobody with a genuine interest in their success had told them what they actually needed to know before they started. Their system integrator had one agenda. Microsoft had another. Both were invested in moving forward, not in slowing down to ask the uncomfortable questions.
So the same mistakes kept recurring. Processes defined too late. Scope that drifted without anyone owning the consequences. Go-live decisions driven by contract milestones rather than readiness. And by the time the damage was visible, it was expensive and slow to fix.
What was missing wasn’t more consultants. It was an independent voice — someone sitting on the client’s side of the table, with no commercial reason to tell them anything other than the truth.
That’s why IT Fandango exists.
How I operate
I don’t manage relationships with Microsoft or system integrators. I don’t have licences to sell or utilisation targets to hit. That independence isn’t incidental, it’s the point.
What clients get is a straight read on their situation. I’m not here to validate decisions that have already been made or to soften conclusions that need to be heard. If the SI’s approach doesn’t hold up, I’ll say so. If the project isn’t ready to move forward, I’ll say that too.
The earlier in the cycle I’m involved, the more useful that is. A second opinion before the wrong decision compounds is worth far more than a recovery programme six months later.
Who delivers the work
IT Fandango is deliberately small. I bring in specialist associates — senior, vetted, known to me personally — when an engagement requires additional capacity or specific expertise.
